The XF is the first sporting sedan to deliver Jaguar´s stunning new design language. Its bold new face looks to the future, while reaffirming the marque´s sporting DNA. The styling is modern, underpinned by Jaguar´s strength of driver-focused engineering and the emotional power of its design and craftsmanship.
With a profile that is both athletic and assertive, the dramatic lines of a coupe envelop a spacious cabin with four doors and seating for five adults. This is a sports car and a luxury sedan. The latest in a long line of beautiful, fast cars. The XF´s unmistakable long, low, and wide profile clearly has muscles below its contoured surface. Its strong grille creates a distinctive signature, emphasizing a broad, solid stance. The low nose, sweeping roofline and powerful shoulders promise performance even when the XF is still. And the careful detailing, from woven mesh of the grille to sculpted light clusters; from side power vents to large alloy wheels, is both exquisite and dramatic. A modern interior. Inside the XF, the feel is crisp and contemporary. The centre console is high and wide to envelop driver and front passenger. A 7-inch colour touch-screen controls most cabin functions, reducing buttons to a single intuitive panel. The dashboard fascia is brushed aluminum and polished wood, flawlessly detailed. Climate vents rotate out of sight when not in use. And seating surfaces are twin-stitched leather. The keyless entry system—standard on Premium Luxury and Supercharged models—is a thoughtful feature that combines convenience with ease of use. Approach the XF with its Jaguar Smart Key, pull the door release, and the system triggers the security-protected opening, unlocking itself. Intuitive simplicity in action. Inside, you will notice the red start button on the console is pulsing like a heartbeat. Press the button and the rotary shifter rises up into the palm of your hand, signaling you to select a drive option. The air vents rotate to open. And the navigation system presents a welcome screen. The car is ready to be experienced. The XF is athletic and taut, as a sports car should be, with a sculptured shape that gives the car a confident stance and sense of power. The body structure is light but exceptionally rigid— with the strength to provide outstanding safety credentials and the stiffness to carry a suspension whose balance of comfort and control was honed by intensive Jaguar development. An aerodynamic bodyshell reduces drag and wind noise. And its sure V8 powertrain, tuned exhaust, and an array of performance and handling aids connect the car to the road. The XF´s light, but high-strength new generation steel body shell is shaped by Computer Aided Design to be torsionally stiff for safe, precise handling. ABS antilock brakes with traction and cornering controls reduce stopping distances without sacrificing stability. An automatic Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) creates a perfect balance between ride and handling when on the road. And two-stage Dynamic Stability Control manages grip when conditions vary. These active safeguards are complimented by two-stage driver and front passenger airbags, occupant position and weight sensing, front seat head restraints, and ´soft-landing´ technology in safety belt retractors. The supercharged XF is extraordinary. At its heart is a 4.2 litre, 32-valve, all-aluminum V8 with four overhead cams and variable camshaft phasing to boost response. Add a crankshaft-driven blower and you have 420 hp and up to 408 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a ZF 6-speed automatic, a shift-by-wire system that adapts to both road conditions and the way the car is driven. It is fully automatic in Drive or Sport modes, offers additional Winter and Dynamic shift modes on demand, and also allows one-touch manual gear selection using F1 style paddle shifters. The new XF was shown publicly for the first time at the Frankfurt International Auto Show on 11th September.
